Kal-Pay is the national payment network. This is designed to allow P2P payments to be made. It is also the transaction system within Kaldus. Every business entity must be able to accept Kal-Pay as a payment option. Every ID card will function as a Kal-Pay transaction card. The process is simple. The customer inserts their card into the reader. A secured transaction will go from the merchant to the Kaldan National Bank directly. KNB will either authorize or decline the transaction. If it is authorized, then the customer successfully paid for the item, and the money is instantly transferred from the purchaser’s account to the merchant’s account. If declined, then the transaction did not complete, and the purchaser will not be able to purchase the item they wished to purchase.
Kal-Pay does not use the Mastercard network. Because of that, transaction fees to merchants are much smaller than if they were to use the Mastercard network. Therefore, Kal-Pay will likely be the preferred method of purchase. If this becomes the case, then the resident will not need to carry their debit card since their bank card is their ID card, and one should always carry their ID card.
